Yesterday I completed my Camp Loopy 2013 challenge. The Gaia cardigan in Cascade 200 superwash. The price is around $11 a skein, but for the rich colors, I feel it’s a reasonable price for wool (not ‘yarn’). Sure, I could save a lot of money using craft store acrylics (I call these ‘yarn’), but for me they tend to be too hot for where I live. The Cascade wools breathe and feel more comfortable and they have so many colors available in this easy care washable wool.
My modifications: I only used 3 buttons, Used seed stitch instead of reverse stockinette and then extended the sleeves to 3/4 by adding more rows and doing a few increases when the mood hit me to taper them.
The fit was spot on and I know I will get a lot of use from it.
I think it’s more for a second sweater, because of the lace panels and the short rows in the sleeve, but the pattern and yarn details are here: http://ravel.me/MyDailyFiber/g2
I love this sweater! Would this make a good first sweater project? I really would like to try it, where can I find the pattern and yarn?
